Public Safety is Important to Arizona

Police / Legislative Oath of Office
Public Safety

More than eighteen years ago I took an oath as a Police Office "to protect and serve" the citizens of Mesa.   As your State Senator, I still feel that responsibility today.

A vital role of Government is to protect its citizens. Government can do more to fulfill its responsibility to protect our borders, our homes and our families from the dangers of today's world. Providing law enforcement with the tools to safeguard our homes and families is one of my highest priorities.

Tough on Crime

I served over ten years as a Mesa Police Officer and I understand how critical responsible law enforcement is to our society. I can tell you there are too many laws. Laws that make criminals out of people for protecting their families. Laws that respect the rights of the guilty at the expense of the victims. Our society, in many cases, is championing the dregs of society as heroes and view with contempt the virtuous.
.
I have seen criminals let off with a slap on the hand only to go right back out and commit the same crime - sometimes against the same victim. We need legislators that understand directly the effect all these laws have on our lives and how to truly protect our families from the predators of our society.
